Mindfulness therapy

Mindfulness is described by Jon Kabat Zinn as paying attention in a particular way to the present moment with a non-judgmental stance. It is a practice often used in conjunction with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to improve awareness, emotion regulation and coping strategies. Please see information about our group classes as well.

Mindfulness can help you to:

  • use your awareness to deal more effectively with stress
  • choose your reactions as opposed to automatically reacting from instinct
  • develop breathing and meditation techniques to connect with your stable centre
  • connect with a place of inner calm in the midst of pressure
  • develop clarity, focus and balance when you feel overwhelmed
  • develop a more compassionate and patient stance
  • improve your relationship with yourself and with others
  • develop an increased sense of aliveness and energy
  • learn to peacefully accept and let go of what you cannot change
  • improve your health and well-being

What can you expect from a Mindfulness course?

The full course consists of eight, two-hour group sessions in which our psychologist, who specialises in Mindfulness, discusses the concept and practicality of Mindfulness and leads the group in developing their own mindful awareness. In the sessions, you will have the opportunity to practice Mindfulness and learn how to apply it to your everyday life.
