Louise Helliwell has been accredited CBT Therapist with the BABCP since 1994. She has been in private practice in both Harley Street and the City for 16 years, previously working at the Bethlem Royal and Maudsley Hopsitals and the Priory Hospital at Roehampton with both inpatient and outpatients. Her experience covers a broad range of mental health issues, particularly depression and a variety of anxiety disorders including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The approach is collaborative and emphasis on helping people understand their unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviors and teaching them the skills to overcome their problems and also stay well in the future.

Particular interests have been in Health Psychology and the use of CBT interventions with a variety of chronic Health issues, which has included Chronic Pain, Chronic Fatigue, Multiple Sclerosis and Health Anxiety. More recently she studied a Master in Business which had encouraged an interest and subsequent experience of working with work related stress, conflict and anxiety. This has been assisted by a period working as a Hospital Manager and also running her own business and experiencing the complexities this involves.

In addition Louise is an accredited supervisor and is currently both supervisor and Tutor at Exeter University training new CBT Therapists within the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Programme.
